Boston
Boston was an important to Native American trade some 4,000 years before Europeans arrived. The English founded the Port of Boston in 1630 and for 50 years it was a community governed by the Massachusetts Bay Company. Commercial growth changed the Port of Boston, bringing with it The Church of England and a Royal Governor in 1686. By the late 1600s, the Port of Boston was the third largest port in the English-speaking world.
