The Port of Kaohsiungh is also known as the “Harbor Capital” of Taiwan. Ferries are often used throughout the port instead of buses, which are uncommon in Kaohsiung. It is the 6th largest container port in the world as well as Taiwan’s biggest port. The port reached its trade capacity in 2007. The Port of Kaohsiung is not a part of Kaohsiung City officially, being administrated by the Kaohsiung Port Authority, under the Ministry of Transportation.
